History
Our intention is for pupils at ABS to have a secure understanding of chronology, both in Britain and the wider world.
Through carefully planned, progressive lessons, pupils are taught about the significance of different historical periods, key historical figures and how History has influenced their lives today.
In understanding this, our children will gain cultural capital and have a greater appreciation of today’s world and their place within it.
Ambitious in our coverage of History and sequential teaching of core skills and concepts; motivating through exciting learning, trips and visitors that give all children an opportunity to explore and question the past.
The history knowledge organisers give pupils and parents a clear overview of the key facts, vocabulary and dates needed for a unit of work. They highlight the essential information that children should revisit regularly so they can build confidence and deepen their understanding over time. Although pupils will encounter lots of additional vocabulary and facts during the unit of learning, the knowledge organiser focuses on the core content that will help them feel secure and successful in their learning.
