Collective Worship
Collective worship is the heartbeat of Archbishop Sumner.
It offers pupils and adults the opportunity to encounter and reflect on faith by engaging in conversations about God, both as individuals and together. Our times of worship are very special. Children and adults are invited, without compulsion, to:
- engage in an act of community
- express and give thanksgiving to God
- be still and reflect
- explore the big questions of life and respond to national events
- foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness
- reflect on the character of God and on the teachings of Christ
- affirm Christian values and attitudes
- share each other's joys and challenges
- celebrate special times in the Christian calendar
Each day of the week has its own unique theme.
Monday worship introduces a theme and a Bible reading. We invite the community to say familiar prayers together.
Tuesday worship is sung worship.
Wednesday worship explores Monday's theme in greater depth. We wonder about big questions.
Thursday worship celebrates achievement and behaviour through certificates.
Friday worship is THRIVE worship.
Reflect
Our reflection area offers children the opportunity to think deeply about the theme each week and to respond. Children are invited to write a comment, respond to a question, pause and take a moment to be still.
